About Global Learn Center

An educational site about blockchain in the real world: what it is used for beyond finance, and how the rules around crypto-assets differ between regions.

What we cover

Global Learn Center has two sections. Use cases looks at areas outside finance where shared ledgers have been proposed or piloted — supply chains, trade paperwork, identity, education records, land registries, health data, energy certificates, public records, voting and humanitarian aid. Regions summarises how major jurisdictions and international standard-setters regulate crypto-assets.

The two sections answer related questions. The first asks where the technology is genuinely useful. The second asks how societies are setting boundaries for the parts of it that touch money.

Our approach

  • Neutral. We describe pilots that succeeded, ones that were quietly dropped, and ones that closed in public. Each explainer includes a section on when an ordinary database is enough.
  • Sourced. We rely on legislation, supervisors, international bodies, government agencies and peer-reviewed research, and we link to them.
  • Dated. Every page shows when it was last reviewed. Regulation changes quickly; a date tells you how much weight to put on a summary.
  • Careful with facts. When we are not certain about a date, a figure or the outcome of a pending reform, we leave it out rather than guess.

What we never do

  • We do not sell, exchange or hold crypto-assets, and we never ask for anyone's keys or funds.
  • We do not recommend, rank, review or compare tokens, exchanges, wallet products or other providers.
  • We do not publish prices, charts, market commentary or predictions.
  • We do not give financial, legal or tax advice, and our regulation briefs are not legal opinions.
  • We do not use affiliate links or accept payment for mentions.

How we are funded

Reading the site is free. The publisher covers the cost of research, writing and hosting, and may advertise the site itself online, for example through search adverts that point to our explainers. Advertising does not affect what we write. We accept no money, gifts or sponsorship from crypto companies, blockchain vendors or law firms, and no organisation can pay to be included in or left out of an explainer.

Who is behind the site

Global Learn Center is published by the operator named in our Imprint. Explainers and briefs are prepared by the Global Learn Center editors under our editorial policy.
